Over the weekend, the KCB Chess Club showcased their mastery yet again in the Kenya National Chess Premier League, securing decisive victories against Kenyatta University Chess Club and Nairobi Chess Club at Deista University.

In their matchup with Kenyatta University on Saturday, KCB asserted their dominance with a commanding 4-1 win. Ben Nguku, Ben Mgana, Ricky Sang, Philip Singer, and Gloria Jumbo led the charge, defeating their opponents Adol Makut, Shem Aberi, Nihal Jeremiah, Nelson Likaya, and Vivian Lucy, respectively.

The following Sunday, KCB continued their winning streak, triumphing in four matches and playing to a draw against Nairobi Chess Club. Reflecting on the team’s performance, one player remarked on the engaging nature of the games.

The team’s success is not limited to national arenas alone; they recently represented Africa internationally in Germany. Despite facing formidable opponents from Team Africa, comprised of players from various countries including Algeria, Egypt, and South Africa, KCB impressed by securing a draw against higher-rated competitors. This accomplishment catapulted them from 32nd to 21st position—a significant leap in rankings.
